South Korean singer Taemin has officially parted ways with Big Planet Made Entertainment, ending a partnership that lasted just under two years. The split comes amid growing speculation of financial disputes and a reported breakdown of trust between the artist and the agency’s leadership.
On February 24, Big Planet Made released a brief statement confirming the termination of Taemin’s exclusive contract, asking fans to continue supporting the artist in his future endeavors. The announcement marked the end of a 1 year and 10 month collaboration.
According to industry insiders, Taemin still had time remaining on his contract. However, he reportedly strongly requested termination, and both sides eventually agreed to go their separate ways.

While neither Taemin nor the agency disclosed specific reasons for the split, multiple local media outlets have raised concerns about financial management within the company. Reports allege that CEO Cha Ga-won was involved in delayed settlements and entered external business agreements without the artist’s consent.
In a particularly striking claim, Taemin is said to have personally covered salaries for some of his longtime staff members to maintain their working relationship. This revelation has fueled speculation that financial issues — and a resulting loss of trust — were central to the contract termination.
The controversy extends beyond Taemin. Cha Ga-won, who leads several affiliated companies including One Hundred and INB100, has reportedly faced allegations of unpaid production costs amounting to billions of won owed to various vendors involved in album production.

Taemin joined Big Planet Made in March 2024 and released his fifth mini album, “ETERNAL.” However, in 2025 he only released a special single titled “Veil” rather than a full physical album. Some industry observers speculate that alleged unpaid production expenses may have disrupted larger-scale album plans.
Additional media reports claimed that Cha Ga-won’s luxury residence in Hannam-dong was provisionally seized following alleged unpaid luxury goods purchases. The CEO’s side responded by stating that certain reports contain inaccuracies and may infringe upon personal reputation and rights. Nevertheless, questions surrounding the company’s financial stability continue to circulate.
Despite the turbulence, fans remain focused on Taemin’s future as a solo artist and performer. Known for his strong stage presence and consistent musical evolution, the singer’s next career move is already drawing attention across the K-pop industry.
As speculation continues, neither Taemin nor his former agency has provided further clarification, leaving observers to watch closely for official updates.
