“Sweet Home” Director Talked About Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun’s Change From Rookies To Top Stars

Director Lee Eung-bok spoke about the differences between Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun, who grew from a new actor to a star.

Director Lee Eung-bok had an interview with TenAsia at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on July 25th and shared various stories about the Netflix original series “Sweet Home 3.”

On Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun‘s screen time, Lee Eung-bok said, “I put in the maximum amount. I wanted to show the exact amount rather than the larger amount.”

Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun grew from new actors to stars during the broadcast of the “Sweet Home” series. Regarding this, Lee Eung-bok, the director of the series, said, “Isn’t it like we met again in season 3 after they got matured? It’s so nice to see them get upright. They are so upright and cool. It felt like I met them after they grew up, annd even better as they became the darkened Hyun-soo and the rookie star Lee Do-hyun.”

He added, “Their attitude toward the drama has changed as well. They could get themselves immersed in the characters even when I didn’t direct them. I think it’s a combination that you can’t see in another production.”

When filming “Sweet Home 3,” Lee was filming “Exhuma,” “The Good Bad Mother” and “Death’s Game” at the same time. When asked if he had any difficulties securing his schedule, director Lee Eung-bok said, “We needed to coordinate it well because he was receiving a lot of love calls. It was done efficiently. Even though he was doing so many works, his synchronization with each work was so high that he filmed them without difficulty.”
