On the August 8th episode of Channel A’s “Dr. Oh’s Golden Clinic”, legendary singer Ha Chun-hwa appeared as a guest.
Jung Hyung-don introduced Ha Chun-hwa, “She holds the top spot as the ‘Donation King’ in the entertainment industry, having donated a staggering 20 billion won. She is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for holding over 8,500 performances, the most by any artist.”
In response, Ha Chun-hwa smiled modestly.
Jung Hyung-don expressed his amazement, “It’s said that you’ve donated more than 20 billion won. Even if we consider that to be one-tenth of your income, that would mean you have a fortune of 200 billion won.”
Kim Ji-min then called Ha Chun-hwa “older sister”, while Jung Hyung-don jokingly referred to her as “mom”, causing laughter.
Ha Chun-hwa explained, “People keep saying it’s 20 billion won, but I’ve been quietly donating consistently since I was 19 years old, for over 50 years, so the accumulated amount has grown.”
She added, “No one can accurately calculate how much it is—whether it’s 20 billion, 30 billion or 50 billion won.”
Park Na-rae asked, “Should we then consider you as having a heart as rich as a chaebol (a wealthy conglomerate owner)?” Jung Hyung-don humorously continued, “Shall we sensationalize it and say you donated 70 billion won?“
Kim Ji-min then playfully suggested increasing the figure to 200 billion won and jokingly asked Ha Chun-hwa to lend her some money. Seeing this, Jung Hyung-don commented “It’s been a while since I’ve seen such an embarrassing disciple“, causing laughter.
Dr. Oh Eun-young praised Ha Chun-hwa for her life of giving, saying, “To give love well, you must have received love well. I think you learned how to give because you experienced love from your father.”
She concluded “You can’t donate without a love for humanity“, emphasizing the depth of Ha Chun-hwa’s compassion.
