Suho Expresses Desire To Continue Acting Alongside EXO activities, “I Dreamed Of Being An Actor Since Trainee Days”
EXO member Suho talked about how he developed his acting dream
EXO’s Suho has firmly proved his presence as an actor with his performance as mysterious convenience store part-timer Kim Sun-woo in JTBC’s recently ended drama “Beyond Your Touch”.
Suho has been so well-known as an idol singer from the famous boy group EXO. However, he has also been accumulating acting experience from making cameo appearances to playing supportive roles and then leading roles. It’s been 10 years since Suho debuted as an actor, and he is still carrying out acting activities with a sincere heart.
When asked about his growing desire for acting In the recent interview after “Beyond Your Touch” ended, Suho said, “Many people saw my acting for the first time through this work. Rather than wanting to gain recognition as an actor, it was already nice to see reactions like, ‘Suho is also acting’. The fact that some people watched the drama without knowing that I’m an EXO member also made me feel satisfied with my performance.”
It turns out that Suho studied Acting at the Korea National University of Arts (K’Arts) and had prepared for his acting career in the very early days. In this regard, Suho shared, “While practicing under SM as a trainee, I developed the dream of becoming a singer, and also dreamed of being an actor”, adding “When I first came to SM, Super Junior members were working as singers, actors and entertainers. SM also supported my acting desire, so during my trainee days, I took acting, singing, and dancing classes at the same time.”
He continued, “When I was in the last year of high school, I had an injury and couldn’t dance. SHINee, who trained with me, debuted, so I thought I should prepare for college and go to a good university. I wanted to learn more about acting so I applied to the Acting Department at K’Arts”, adding “After making my debut as a singer, I also joined acting auditions. After acting in various works, I wanted to challenge performance acting so I did musicals. I really want to be an actor while continuing EXO activities”
Suho added, “I studied with the 9th and 10th Classes at K’Arts. I was able to get close to other friends, including actor Byun Yo-han, because I did not consider myself EXO’s Suho when studying at school”.
