“Street Dance Girls Fighter 2” To Focus On Healthy Competition Among Teenage Female Dancers

Season 2 of “Street Dance Girls Fighter” will show the healthy growth of aspiring female dancers in their teens

On the morning of November 21st, the press conference for Mnet’s “Street Dance Girls Fighter 2” was held at Stanford Hotel Seoul in Sangnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. PD Hwang Sung-ho, PD Jung Kyung-wook, dancers Lia Kim, Bada, Aiki, Kirsten, Gabee, and Funky_Y attended the event.

“Street Dance Girls Fighter 2” is the program that depicts the journey of finding teenage dancers who will shake the global dance scene beyond Korea. In this new season, they plan to expand eligibility criteria on individuals, crews, or nationalities without restrictions with an aim to discover world-class teenage dancers.

Introducing Season 2, PD Hwang Sung-ho said, “The biggest difference is the expanded participation of global crews. The previous season recruited only crews of teenage dancers, but this time, individuals can also participate. The age range has also expanded from 2010 to 2005”. OD Jung Kyung-wook added, “The key point we want to convey is that teenagers are not amateurs and this can be the starting point for them to become professional dancers.”

Regarding her appearance in “Street Dance Girls Fighter 2”, Gabee shared, “I really enjoyed ‘Street Woman Fighter 2’. Having members of Seasons 1 and 2 as mentors together can create a new picture. There are many things I want to learn from Season 2 masters”, adding “‘Street Dance Girls Fighter 1’ already surprised me. This time, both crews and individuals were impressive. I believe that they will become new stars.”

Lia Kim also said, “I wondered if I could properly perform as a master. Of course, I feel more comfortable being a master compared to directly participating as a contestant. However, I do feel a sense of responsibility for the growth of young dancers. I’m doing this with the mindset of collecting all my experiences and giving them to these friends.”

Bada confessed, “I’m happy to do this with the leaders of ‘Street Woman Fighter 1’”, adding “I joined ‘Street Woman Fighter 2’ as a contestant, and now I’m appearing on this program as a mentor. All the participants have solid skills, so I plan to fulfill my role according to their abilities.”

PD Hwang Sung-ho mentioned the controversy over the participants’ intense competition in the previous season and said, “This time, we discussed planning a healthy competition among these young friends. We focus on the mission of fostering harmony within the crews and encouraging unity among the members”, adding “There won’t be situations where the participants compete against each other using anything other than dance.”

When asked why they didn’t make a dance program for teenage boys, PD Hwang said, “As far as I know, teenage male dancers are skillful and enthusiastic. However, when it comes to dance, girls seem to be more passionate and active. Nevertheless, I believe that there is enough potential to plan a dance program for teenage male dancers.”

Meanwhile, “Street Dance Girls Fighter 2” will premiere at 10 p.m. on November 21st.
