Stray Kids NCT WISH Sakuya Baby Bread controversytext' 'korean' 'promotion' 'celebration' 'poster.

On August 10, Mega MGC Coffee’s official X (formerly Twitter) account “MGC” posted an event announcement celebrating NCT WISH member Sakuya’s birthday. In the notice, the brand referred to Sakuya as “Baby Bread”, citing his love for bread and his young age.

However, “Baby Bread” has long been a nickname used by Stray Kids’ I.N since his debut. Stray Kids fans argued that the name has been closely tied to I.N for years and should not be used for another idol. They demanded that the company revise the notice.

As the protests continued, Mega MGC Coffee deleted the original announcement. Two days later, the company reposted the notice with the same content but removed the term “Baby Bread”.

Stray Kids fans welcomed the change, commenting, “Finally, they fixed it.” On the other hand, NCT WISH fans expressed disappointment, stating, “It’s crossing the line to criticize a member just because of a phrase used by the advertiser.”

The controversy sparked mixed reactions online. Some netizens pointed out that “‘Baby Bread’ is a commonly used term” and criticized fans for “harassing an official account over a nickname”. Others noted that “within fandoms, overlapping nicknames can be a sensitive issue”.
