After Taylor Swift’s breakup with Joe Alwyn hit the news, a move from world-famous coffee brand Starbucks enraged netizens.
Recently, a branch of coffee brand Starbucks tried to use Taylor Swift’s breakup for promotional purposes but faced intense backlash.
In particular, the store in question put up a sign at the entrance asking, “Which Taylor Swift ex are you?”. Then, below the phrase, the names of stars who had publicly dated Taylor Swift, including Harry Styles, Joe Jonas, Tom Hiddleston, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Calvin Harris, and Joe Alwyn, were written alongside a Starbuck beverage.
The store’s misbehavior quickly spread online, and netizens criticized it as “sexist”. One fan said, “The way people are immediately going back to the misogynistic comments about her dating life as if she didn’t just get out of a 6 year relationship??!! Like I thought we were done with that, this is so sad.”
In response, Starbucks apologized through its official Twitter account, saying, “Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This certainly doesn’t uphold our mission and values, and the sign been taken down by the store.”
Previously on April 8th, local foreign media outlets reported that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn had ended their six-year relationship. An insider said, “Swift and Alwyn broke up amicably. The reason Alwyn hasn’t been seen at any shows recently is because of the breakup.”
The couple, who first met in 2016, began dating at the end of that year and maintained a beautiful relationship for six years. Taylor Swift expressed her feelings for Joe Alwyn in many songs, while Alwyn participated in Swift’s album, showing their love publicly.
