Stabbing Incident at MTV VMAs Japan with Cha Eunwoo in Attendance: Woman in Her 40s Seriously Injured
An incident involving a stabbing occurred at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2023 (MTV VMAJ 2023), attended by Cha Eunwoo and others
There were no injuries among the artists, but one audience member was stabbed and seriously injured.
The incident took place at K-Arena Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan, at around 5:45 p.m. local time on November 23rd. The MTV VMAJ 2023 had been taking place since 2 p.m. on that day. Cha Eunwoo and Japanese singer-actor Tomohisa Yamashita were among those in attendance.
According to local police, a woman in her 40s, presumed to be the victim, was stabbed in the abdomen by an assailant at the scene. Four ambulances responded to the scene, and the police are pursuing the whereabouts of the assailant.
A witness in her 50s said, “While I was in line for the artist’s fan sign event, police cars and ambulances rushed in. It’s frightening that something like this happened.“
On another note, Cha Eunwoo received the Global Icon Award at the MTV VMAJ 2023. Regarding the stabbing incident, Cha Eunwoo’s agency, Fantagio, said on November 24th, “There is no separate information received regarding our artist’s safety.”
