“Squid Game” to film Season 2 and Season 3 simultaneously, 13 episodes in total 

Global hit Netflix series “Squid Game” is reportedly producing Season 2 and Season 3 at the same time.

According to OSEN’s report on May 16th, Netflix’s “Squid Game” production team plans to film Season 2 and Season 3 simultaneously with a total of 13 episodes before their global release. It will be decided through further discussions whether Season 2 will ha 6 episodes and Season 3 will consist of 7 episodes.

Earlier, director Hwang Dong Hyuk, who scripted and directed “Squid Game”, discussed with Netflix and decided to produce Season 2 and Season 3 at the same time. They also agreed to shoot all 13 episodes at once and then release them sequentially.

“Squid Game” production team has recently begun the test shoot for Season 2, and they will officially start filming in July. As two seasons will be filmed at the same time, the filming period is expected to be more than 10 months. The story is said to center around Sung Gi Hoon (Lee Jung Jae) and the Front Man (Lee Byung Hun).

Meanwhile, “Squid Game” is a nine-episode Netflix original series about people who risk their lives participating in a mysterious survival with extreme games to win the prize of 45.6 billion won. It was released on September 17th, 2021, and created a global syndrome. Its economic profit is estimated to be around 900 million dollars (about 1.2 trillion won).

[UPDATE] On May 16th, a Netflix official told News1, “Currently, the production team of ‘Squid Game’ is working hard on season 2.”
