“Squid Game” star Lee Jung Jae denies rumors of him joining the cast of Marvel Studios 

“There was no such offer from Marvel,” says Lee Jung Jae. 

On August 5, SBS Entertainment News reported part of an interview with Lee Jung Jae following the VIP premiere of his new movie “The Hunt” on August 4. Through this interview, the truth about Lee Jung Jae’s alleged appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has come out.

Accordingly, Lee Jung Jae directly denied the rumor. He reportedly said, “This is wrong news. I know that a foreign influencer wrote it on social media, but I think he posted it for fun. However, it was published as a fact. There was no such proposal from Marvel.”

Earlier, on July 20, an article with the headline, “Lee Jung Jae is in talks with Marvel Studios”, was posted by MarvelCrave, a famous Twitter update account which delivers news related to Marvel. The news then spread widely on the same day. The original article was quoting Twitter influencer and author DanielRPK.

Accordingly, netizens’ speculations were raised that Lee Jung Jae would replace Tony Leung as the main antagonist in “Shang-Chi 2”, or play Mister Negative, a villain in “Spider-Man”.

Meanwhile, Lee Jung Jae is about to make his directorial debut with the movie “The Hunt” on August 10. “The Hunt” is receiving great anticipation even before it hits theatres, including being selected as an invited film for the Midnight Screening of the 75th Cannes International Film Festival.

“The Hunt” is an espionage action film in which National Security Agency agents Park Pyeong Ho (Lee Jung Jae) and Kim Jeong Do (Jung Woo Sung), who suspect each other in order to find a hidden spy in the organization, are thrown into a huge incident called “Korea’s No.1 Assassination Operation”.
