Actor Song Young-kyu, widely recognized for his role as Detective squad chief Choi in the 2019 box office hit “Extreme Job”, has been found dead. According to an exclusive report by MBN, the body of the actor was discovered this morning, August 4, in a vehicle parked at a townhouse complex in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
The Yongin Dongbu Police Station confirmed the death and has launched an investigation into the circumstances. Song was found collapsed inside a car around 8:00 a.m. by an acquaintance, who promptly notified authorities.

Song Young-kyu’s sudden passing has shocked the entertainment industry and the public. Just two months prior, he made headlines for being caught driving under the influence. Following the DUI incident, he was removed from an ongoing production, further affecting his career.
Although the exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed, those close to the actor revealed that his mental health had rapidly declined following recent media coverage of his DUI incident. In a statement to Ilgan Sports, an associate shared, “He was deeply distressed by malicious articles and online comments. The overall situation and his surrounding conditions had become very difficult.”
His funeral will be held at the Davos Hospital Funeral Hall in Yongin, Room 1.
