According to Chinese media outlet Kankan News, Song Yiren released an official statement through her lawyer on September 22. Her side described the rumors as “defamatory falsehoods” and firmly stated that she had “no connection whatsoever to Yu Menglong’s death.” The statement clarified that Song was not present at the scene of the incident and only learned of the news the following morning.

Yu Menglong’s sudden death shocked the Chinese entertainment industry. Although his mother later claimed he had accidentally fallen while intoxicated, the case was closed within just 12 hours, without sufficient evidence being presented. This led to widespread speculation about the true cause of his death. Rumors surfaced that Yu had attended a gathering before the fall, with director Cheng Qingsong and actor Gao Taiyu allegedly present. Song Yiren was also rumored to have invited Yu to the meeting, and some netizens even spread unverified claims that she had been seen multiple times at the location of the fall.

Amid growing controversy, Song Yiren broke her silence through her lawyer. She explained that photos, videos, and audio clips being circulated were fabricated, stressing that reports of her fleeing abroad were also false. She further announced her intention to pursue civil and criminal action against those spreading defamatory content.
The issue gained further attention when Taiwanese actor Austin Lin, who had worked with Song Yiren over a decade ago, unfollowed her on social media. At a public event on September 25, when asked about the situation, he declined to comment directly, saying, “*That collaboration was more than 10 years ago. Let’s focus on my current film instead.*”
Song Yiren is best known for her roles in works such as Time to Love, Sword Master and Ever Night. Recently, she shared the official statement denying the rumors on her personal account.
