According to a report by MyDaily on March 15, Song Mino was present at a VIP screening for the film Method Acting on March 13. The event took place at Megabox COEX in Seoul. Song Mino reportedly attended the event to support actor Lee Dong-hwi, who is known to be one of his close friends in the entertainment industry.

While it is common for celebrities to show support for friends by attending VIP screenings, the timing of Song Mino’s appearance has drawn attention given his current legal situation.

Because the premiere starred actor Lee Dong Hwi, some reports initially suggested that Song Mino attended the event after being personally invited by the actor, as the two were previously known to be friends. Lee Dong Hwi had even shared a post on social media in the past thanking Song Mino for gifting him a pair of sunglasses.

However, Lee Dong Hwi firmly denied the speculation during an interview with Star News on March 16 while promoting the film’s release.

“I didn’t invite Song Mino,” he said. “I didn’t contact him. I only heard at the venue that he had attended.”

He added that the situation was “completely unexpected,” emphasizing that he had no prior knowledge of Song Mino’s attendance.

The clarification sparked online discussions, with many interpreting the statement as the actor publicly distancing himself from Song Mino amid the ongoing controversy.

According to legal sources, the Seoul Western District Court will hold the first hearing on April 21 for Song Mino and a facility manager identified as Mr. Lee, both of whom have been charged with violating the Military Service Act. The trial was originally scheduled for March 24 but was postponed after Song Mino’s legal team submitted a request for a delay, which the court approved.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office indicted Song Mino and the facility official without detention on December 30 last year. Prosecutors allege that from March 2023 to December 2024, while serving as a social service worker at a public facility in Mapo District, he failed to report to work regularly and neglected key responsibilities such as handling civil complaints.

Song Mino 102 days unauthorized absence

According to the prosecution’s claims, Song Mino was absent without permission for 102 days out of a total of 430 working days during his service period.

Song Mino’s side initially denied the accusations. However, after evidence of him leaving his assigned workplace surfaced, it was reported that he later acknowledged most of the related facts.
