According to an exclusive report released on May 13, the romance comedy drama Love Cloud has officially secured a slot as a KBS2 weekend drama and is expected to air in the first half of next year.
Song Joong Ki and Park Ji Hyun are reportedly confirmed to lead the series. Actors Lee Si Woo and Choi Hee Jin are also said to be positively reviewing offers to join the cast.
Love Cloud tells the story of Kang Woo Joo, a former flight instructor, and Ahn Ha Neui, a trainee pilot, who reunite seven years later on the mysterious island of Jeju, where “love becomes the weather.” The two reconnect as an air traffic controller and a pilot, leading to an emotional romance filled with comedy and healing moments.
The drama will be directed by Song Min Yeop, while screenplay duties will be handled by writing team Mad Rabbit.
The project holds particular significance for Song Joong Ki because it marks his return to KBS following the explosive success of Descendants of the Sun in 2016. The drama became a major phenomenon across Asia and achieved peak ratings in the 38% range, firmly establishing Song Joong Ki’s image as a top romantic lead through his portrayal of Captain Yoo Si Jin.
In addition, the pairing of Song Joong-ki and Park Ji-hyun is already becoming a hot topic among viewers. The two previously appeared together in Reborn Rich, where Park Ji-hyun gained attention for her charismatic performance as Mo Hyun-min. This time, however, they are set to reunite as the leads of a full-fledged romantic comedy, raising anticipation for their chemistry.
According to industry reports, filming for the drama has already begun. A KBS representative also confirmed that Love Cloud is currently scheduled to air in the first half of 2027, although the exact premiere date has not yet been finalized.
Because Song Joong Ki has not appeared in a KBS drama since Descendants of the Sun, industry attention is already growing around Love Cloud and whether it can recreate the network success associated with his earlier hit series.
