song ji hyo health check

According to DongA on February 26, Song Ji Hyo recently visited a hospital for a full-body medical examination for the first time in her life. The actress underwent a series of tests, including basic physical exams, blood pressure measurement, MRI scans, ultrasound, and endoscopic procedures.

Her gastroscopy results showed mild gastritis, but doctors noted that the condition was not severe. However, during the colonoscopy, medical staff discovered a 5mm polyp in her colon and removed it immediately.

Visibly alarmed, Song Ji Hyo asked the doctor, “Isn’t 5mm considered quite large?” The doctor reassured her, explaining, “That size is not considered large. However, since it could potentially develop into cancer, we removed it right away.”

Photos released after the procedure showed the actress looking shaken following the unexpected discovery. She later underwent a minor procedure at the hospital to completely remove the polyp.

Known for occasionally mentioning her love for alcohol, Song Ji Hyo also paid special attention to her liver examination results. The doctor commented, “Your liver elasticity test results are very good. They meet the standard.”

A specialist further evaluated her overall abdominal health, stating, “I have reviewed the major internal organs in your upper abdomen, and everything looks quite good. This suggests that you usually manage your body fairly well.”

Relieved by the results, the actress shared her honest thoughts after completing the check-up. “Considering my irregular lifestyle and eating habits, the results seem relatively fine. From now on, I will pay more attention to managing my health. This was my first full health screening ever. The night before, I couldn’t sleep at all. Last night was truly like hell for me. Taking the bowel-cleansing medicine was really difficult. Since I had no prior experience with comprehensive check-ups, I went on a strict diet and adjusted my meals starting a week ago. I have no energy left now. I honestly don’t think I want to go through this process again,” she admitted.

Born in 1981, Song Ji Hyo debuted in the early 2000s and has built a 25-year career in the Korean entertainment industry. She gained pan-Asian popularity through hit projects such as Princess Hours, A Frozen Flower, Jumong, and the long-running variety show Running Man.

With the successful removal of the polyp and overall stable results, fans are relieved to hear that the actress’ health remains in good condition. Her candid confession about the exhausting preparation process has also resonated with many, highlighting the importance—and difficulty—of regular health screenings.
