A year has passed since the tragic death of South Korean actor Song Jae-rim, who was found deceased at his Seoul home in December 2024. He was 39 years old.
According to reports, a friend who had arranged to meet Song discovered him at around 12:30 PM at his residence in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and immediately notified the police. Authorities stated that “no signs of foul play were found,” adding that the presence of a note suggested the actor had taken his own life.

His final words, written on social media — “Starting a long journey” — have since become a heartbreaking symbol for fans and colleagues who continue to mourn him.
Following his passing, numerous celebrities and friends expressed deep sorrow through social media.
Actor Hong Seok-cheon shared a photo with Song Jae-rim, writing: “I grieve knowing I’ll never see your wonderful smile again. I’m sorry I couldn’t take better care of you. Rest peacefully, my brother.”

Actor Park Ho-san also lamented: “I can’t believe it, Jae-rim… you were always so bright. I’m so sorry I didn’t reach out more. I’ll miss you.”
Song Jae-rim’s former agency representative added in a statement: “He was such a pure, kind-hearted person who left warmth wherever he went. I pray he now rests peacefully among flowers as gentle as he was.”
Born in 1985, Song Jae-rim made his debut in the 2009 film Actresses and soon gained recognition through hit dramas such as “Moon Embracing the Sun,” “Fantastic Tower,” “Inspiring Generation,” “Our Gap Soon,” and “Clean with Passion for Now.”
He also built an impressive filmography with works including The Suspect, Tunnel 3D, The Villains, Yaksha: Ruthless Operations, and Hello.

Just a month before his death, Song Jae-rim had completed the stage play “The Rose of Versailles.” His final film, Crash (released in January 2025), was posthumously recognized as his last work — a bittersweet reminder of his enduring talent.
