Song Hye Kyo’s worst tragedy in “The Glory” is not school violence?

For most audiences who finished watching Netflix’s “The Glory“, a feeling of satisfaction and relief can be found. In particular, after depicting the tragedies of female lead Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) in the first part, “The Glory” Part 2 focuses on the unbearable pains that her perpetrators now have to experience.

Of course, Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon) and the rest of the “bully gang” were rightfully tormented for their past crimes. However, many believe that the worst tragedy in “The Glory” lies in Moon Dong Eun’s mother Jung Mi Hee, who stabbed her multiple times, despite them sharing the same blood.

Jung Mi Hee might have hurted Moon Dong Eun even more than Park Yeon Jin

Jung Mi Hee is a mother who cruelly left her daughter in endless nightmares

During her school days, Moon Dong Eun had to endure hellish school violence. She was brutally tortured by Park Yeon Jin’s group and even burned with a hair curler.

However, instead of providing Moon Dong Eun with emotional support and protection, Jung Mi Hee ignored her daughter entirely, even siding with the people that hurted her. She’s a complete contrast to Kang Hyeon Nam – another mother figure in “The Glory”.

In the past, Jung Mi Hee received money from Park Yeon Jin’s family, and ruined Moon Dong Eun’s only chance of paying back her perpetrators. Then, she left entirely, leaving her biological daughter to survive by herself.

The second betrayal

After spending her life preparing for a revenge plan, Moon Dong Eun had to face Jung Mi Hee again, who once again betrayed her daughter in exchange for money. The cruel mother made Moon Dong Eun lose her job, got violence with her, ignored her trauma, and constantly bothered her without remorse.

It reached the point that Moon Dong Eun, who always retained a calm appearance, had to burst out in tears, asking how can Jung Mi Hee betray her again and side with her tormentors.

Adding to this, while her daughter suffered endlessly, all Jung Mi Hee cared about was the luxuries she bought using Park Yeon Jin’s money. She also hit Moon Dong Eun with a cloth hanger, to the point her daughter shed blood.

Nevertheless, even with blood flowing down over her face, Moon Dong Eun’s body could not have hurted more than her heart.

Related by blood, yet Jung Mi Hee hurted Moon Dong Eun in even worse ways than Park Yeon Jin. However, the importance of “blood” has given Moon Dong Eun the ability to seal her mother away in a mental ward, giving this Jung Mi Hee her well-deserved end.
