Son Ye-jin personally visited this place with her agency MSTeam Entertainment’s CEO Lee Hyuk-jin last December. They stayed for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, meeting babies urgently protected through Babybox and having conversations with volunteers.
Yang Chang-soo, director of the Crisis Infant Protection Counseling Support Center, said in a phone call on Jan 31st, “We never dreamed that Son Ye-jin would visit in person, so we were truly surprised when she came. She hoped the donation would be used practically for the children, and on the day of her visit, she donated an amount like a Christmas blessing. We are very grateful.“
Son Ye-jin was moved to tears for a moment after hearing explanations that various donations saved precious lives of babies. So far, over 1,000 lives have been protected through this place, with 30% returning to their families, 10% going through adoption procedures, and more than half, 60%, transitioning to orphanages and starting to stand alone.
Director Yang explained, “Son Ye-jin made the donation with the condition of ‘not publicizing the fact’. Later we sought permission and made it public. We won’t forget Son Ye-jin’s sincere gesture of coming all the way to this slope and showing her warm heart.“
Previously, Son Ye-jin donated 100 million won to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea in 2020 to help vulnerable groups and medical staff affected by COVID-19, and in 2022, she and her husband Hyun Bin donated 200 million won to residents of Gangwon Province affected by a large wildfire.
