At a press conference held on August 19 at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul, actress Son Ye-jin opened up about her long-awaited return to cinema with the film No Other Choice ( 어쩔수가없다 ), directed by Park Chan-wook.

This marks Son’s first movie since the 2018 thriller The Negotiation. Asked why she chose this film as her comeback, Son revealed, “Honestly, the biggest reason was that I wanted to work with Director Park Chan-wook.”

She added, “Lee Byung-hun was already cast, and I felt like I’d regret it for the rest of my life if I turned this down, regardless of what my character was like.”

Son shared that the story itself was a powerful factor. “It was such a compelling narrative. After finishing the script, I was left thinking, ‘Can I really do this?’ But deep down, I knew I had to.”

The film follows Man-su (Lee Byung-hun), a seemingly content office worker who suddenly loses his job. As he struggles to protect his wife, children, and newly bought home, he prepares for his own personal war to get rehired. The film also stars Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yum Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won and is set for release in September.
