Veteran actor So Ji Sub recently showcased his charismatic appeal in a digital cover pictorial for fashion magazine Arena Homme+, where he also reflected on his latest acting project.
During the photoshoot, which took place ahead of the premiere of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated, So Ji Sub impressed staff with his professionalism and commanding presence.
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, Agent Kim Reactivated follows the story of a father who fights relentlessly to rescue his only daughter. The drama has enjoyed a strong start in the ratings, debuting with 9.5% nationwide viewership according to Nielsen Korea before climbing to 15.7% for its second episode. So Ji Sub, who plays the titular character Kim Bu Jang, had already generated buzz through the drama’s action-packed teasers.
Speaking about returning to action, So Ji Sub admitted that filming his previous Netflix series Mercy for None had taken a physical toll on him. “While filming Mercy for None, my body was exhausted. But once production ended and I recovered, I found myself wanting to do action again.”
However, he emphasized that the action sequences were not the primary reason he accepted Agent Kim Reactivated. “Then I received the offer for Agent Kim Reactivated. Action was important, of course, but I liked the story even more. I was especially curious to see myself portraying a father with a high school-aged child.” His comments reveal that the emotional depth of the character was just as appealing as the demanding action scenes.
When asked who had been his greatest source of strength throughout his career, So Ji Sub answered without hesitation. “Without a doubt, it's my fans.” He continued by expressing heartfelt gratitude to those who have supported him for more than three decades. “Actors can't continue this job if there's no one watching them. I've been able to keep acting because there have been people who have watched over me and supported me for more than 30 years.”
