Jisoo had a rough start taking the first step into the mainstream film industry but still managed to overcome it. At the age of 27, Jisoo is really blooming with what she has.
Jisoo joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2011. In 2012, the company released her pre-debut photos with a position in the company’s main upcoming debut group. Jisoo officially debuted in 2016 with BLACKPINK and started the road to conquering the audience’s hearts. From the very first days of her debut, her beauty and aura have always given me the feeling of an actress, gentle, elegant, and sweet like a muse.
BLACKPINK is becoming more and more famous, even to international fans, Jisoo has also become the face that every brand is looking for and inviting. Fortunately, there was light at the end of the tunnel, the drama was still broadcast and I got to see how our rookie actress Kim Jisoo shines.
Being the eldest member of the worldwide famous idol group BLACKPINK, as well as a potential vocalist, a star of the fashion world, and an extremely promising rookie in the movie industry, I am sure that under all the compliments given, praise and anticipation from fans exists quite a pressure on Jisoo’s shoulders since the first days of the “Snowdrop” project. But it seems that after a storm comes a calm, the effort and enthusiasm from the girl born in 1995 was really worth it all.
Jisoo may not have a sweet, clear voice like other female leads, but that’s not a weakness at all because I can feel the flexibility in her eyes and expressions. After episode 1 and 2, episodes 3, 4, 5 aired so that viewers can thoroughly understand the plot. And then came episode 6, 7, everything turned faster, Jisoo’s character Eun Young Ro also surprised me many times.
As a student, Young Ro was very beautiful, sweet, and beloved by everyone. When saving the guy Soo Ho, she was extremely determined and strong, then when facing her stepmother, the anger in her eyes surprised me even more. And when facing the boy she secretly loved who was now an enemy, Jisoo, with the status of a rich lady in a chaotic time, proved her acting even more, truly exceeding my expectations for a rookie.
Jisoo’s eyes create so many emotions for Young Ro, I didn’t expect the director to focus on exploiting her eyes so much. But after watching the movie, I realized that it was not a bad choice at all. It is not easy to express the inner feelings of a girl in the tumultuous 80s era of Korea, but Jisoo brightens up the character with her ability.
I was actually skeptical about Jisoo’s skills when reading Knetizens’ criticizing comments but I gradually changed when watching the drama myself. I was even more certain with the initial thought that I wanted this girl to follow the acting career.
Beauty is an advantage, but having both beauty and good acting skills is definitely a great start. Jisoo may not have been ecstatic or created a miracle, but with her performance in Snowdrop, I strongly believe that Jisoo’s acting career will develop better.
It’s a bit late to start acting at the age of 27, but acting takes a long way and no matter what age you are at, there will still be characters for you and there is still a direction for you to go as long as you know the right path. In Jisoo, I have seen that bright direction, as long as she continues to develop her ability, everyone will see the same thing.
