SM Unveils Photos of Female Trainees, Anticipation Grows for Debut of New Girl Group

These trainees are likely members of SM’s next girl group

On November 23rd, photos of some female trainees’ backs were posted on SM Training’s official Instagram. In May of last year, SM announced through the ‘SM 3.0’ video that they are preparing for the debut of a rookie girl group with many members in the fourth quarter of this year.

Among them, attention is focused on whether Na Haeun, who has 5.15 million subscribers on YouTube, will join the group. Na Haeun is popular as a dance prodigy through her dance cover videos.

She signed with SM last year. SM stated that they would further develop Na Haeun’s outstanding talent and potential through systematic training and support, leading her to debut as a K-pop idol.

Expectations are high because after debuting aespa in November 2020, SM is launching a rookie girl group for the first time in about three years.

Netizens left comments to the trainees’ photos:

  • I’m looking forward to it because it’s a big group.
  • It feels like aespa debuted not long ago, but they’re already debuting a new girl group?
  • From November to next year, YG, HYBE, and SM all have rookie girl groups coming out.
  • Wow, they’re tall.
  • Maybe because they’re at the same center with SHINee, their concept seems refreshing
  • Oh, if it’s a big girl group, it’s the first since Girls’ Generation, right?
  • I’m excited.
  • I’m curious about SM’s next girl group
