On November 15, SM Entertainment issued a formal statement denying allegations made by the organizers of OVERPASS LIMA in Peru, who claimed that Kai (EXO) and Minho (SHINee) accepted appearance fees but failed to show up without prior notice—causing the event’s cancellation.
According to SM, both the company and the artists had fully completed preparations to participate in two events scheduled in Peru and Chile. However, as the performance dates approached, the organizers suddenly notified SM of cancellations or postponements due to “local issues.” Later, they reversed course, stating only the Peru event would proceed as planned. These abrupt changes, SM claims, created confusion and chaos for all involved.

SM expressed regret over the inaccurate statements broadcast on Peruvian television and emphasized that the agency will take appropriate measures to protect the reputation and rights of its artists.
The company clarified that the artists did not cancel last minute nor flee with appearance fees, as some reports had suggested. Instead, SM placed responsibility on the local organizers for their lack of clear communication and inconsistent event planning.
SM concluded by reassuring fans and the public that they remain committed to professionalism and transparency in all overseas activities.
