Sisters Who Make Waves season 7, officially titled Ride The Wind 2026, has unexpectedly suspended filming, sparking massive speculation online before Hunan TV finally revealed the heartbreaking reason behind the sudden decision.
The program was originally scheduled to hold live recordings for its third performance round on May 8 and 9. However, less than 24 hours before filming began, the production abruptly announced a postponement, immediately triggering widespread rumors among viewers and fans.

At first, many netizens speculated the delay was related to internal production issues. Earlier reports had claimed contestant An Qi allegedly fainted from exhaustion after overnight rehearsals, while previous live broadcasts also faced criticism over camera mistakes and chaotic stage direction.
Additional rumors suggested the third public performance might even remove its elimination format entirely, with eliminations potentially postponed to the fourth performance round instead.
The controversy intensified because several audience members had already arranged transportation and hotel bookings before the sudden cancellation. Production staff later reportedly launched refund compensation plans for affected viewers.

However, on May 8, Hunan TV officially issued a statement explaining that the suspension was connected to the recent fireworks factory explosion in Liuyang, Hunan Province.
In its statement, the broadcaster announced schedule adjustments for multiple variety programs, including Ride The Wind 2026, Dear Inn 2026, and the highly popular entertainment show Hello Saturday.
The network wrote, “The loss of life is heartbreaking. At this moment, we choose to pause in mourning.”
Hunan TV also reshared news updates regarding the tragic accident to clarify the reason behind the sudden programming changes.
According to Chinese media reports, the deadly explosion occurred at a fireworks factory in Liuyang on May 4. As of May 8, authorities confirmed that the disaster had claimed 37 lives, while rescue operations at the site had largely concluded.

Survivors described hearing a massive explosion before bricks and debris began flying through the air. Some victims reportedly escaped by running through holes in surrounding walls, while others were forced to crawl across the ground amid the chaos.
Reports also stated that houses located several hundred meters away from the central blast site suffered severe damage, with windows shattered and roof tiles blown away by the powerful shockwave.
The tragedy has cast a somber mood across Chinese entertainment media, leading several broadcasters and production companies to temporarily halt scheduled programming out of respect for the victims.
Meanwhile, this season of Sisters Who Make Waves has already generated major attention due to its celebrity lineup, including Taiwanese stars Stephanie Hsiao and Christine Fan. Despite the current delay, many viewers are still closely monitoring updates regarding when filming and broadcasts will officially resume.
