Former SISTAR member Bora recently made headlines after candidly sharing the story behind her departure from Star King , one of SBS’s most iconic entertainment shows in K-pop history.

Appearing on BIGBANG Daesung’s YouTube variety program Zipdaesung , Bora reunited with fellow second-generation idols—including T-ARA’s Hyomin , Jewelry’s Yewon , and KARA’s Heo Youngji —for a nostalgic discussion on their past television experiences. Among the topics brought up, Star King quickly stood out as one of the most demanding shows they had ever filmed.

According to Bora , the show’s punishing schedule often involved shoots lasting over 12 hours, pushing idols to their physical and mental limits. Recalling a particularly exhausting day, she revealed, “We had just finished the Idol Star Athletics Championships in the morning and went straight into filming Star King. And of all things, it was a math-related segment, and we all ended up dozing off.”

Unfortunately, cameras caught them napping during the segment. Bora shared that she was “fired immediately” after the incident.

Despite the sudden dismissal, Bora expressed no hard feelings about being cut from the program. On the contrary, she laughed while reflecting, “Now that it’s in the past… I can honestly say I was grateful to be let go!”

Her honesty struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised her resilience and transparency about the often-overlooked pressures idols face behind the scenes.
