singles inferno

Netflix’s hit dating reality show Single’s Inferno is back with its fifth season—and according to those who’ve seen it first, this may be the boldest season yet.

Set to premiere globally on January 20, Single’s Inferno 5 once again traps single men and women on a remote island known as “Inferno,” where forming a couple is the only way to escape to paradise. Since its debut in 2021, the series has dominated global dating-reality conversations, and Season 5 appears ready to raise the stakes even higher.

The newly revealed main poster has already drawn massive attention, unveiling the visuals of seven contestants for the first time. Paired with the provocative tagline “A flirting war that crosses the line,” the poster instantly fuels anticipation. Following in the footsteps of breakout stars like Song Ji A (FreeZia), Dex (Kim Jin Young), Lee Kwan Hee, and Lee Si An, viewers are eager to discover which new singles will ignite buzz this season.

The main teaser, released alongside the poster, teases a much more daring atmosphere. Ultra-close skinship and unapologetically direct lines such as “I think I’m really falling in love,” “How does it feel to date someone younger?” and “I want you” signal a shift toward raw, unfiltered emotional expression.

Veteran MCs Hong Jin Kyung, Lee Da Hee, Hanhae, Kyuhyun, and Dex—now in their fifth year hosting the show—were unanimously stunned. Watching the footage, they reportedly exclaimed, “Season 5 is insane.” Kyuhyun summed up the season with one phrase: “The contestants’ unfiltered actions are the key point.”

Beyond physical attraction, Single’s Inferno 5 promises heightened emotional drama. From heated confrontations like “You’re going after the queen’s man?” and “Don’t tell me what to do,” to deep romance and unpredictable twists, the season delivers a storyline more dramatic than scripted television.

One particularly shocking moment sees a contestant asking, “Is it possible for me to leave Single’s Inferno with two men?” —a comment that reportedly left all five MCs completely stunned.

Producers Kim Jae Won, Kim Jung Hyun, and Park Soo Ji emphasized that this season stands apart due to its ensemble storytelling. “Rather than focusing on one or two standout stars, this season feels like a multi-casting film such as Love Actually, where each character has their own compelling narrative,” they explained.

Hong Jin Kyung highlighted the psychological aspect, noting the entertainment value of watching how emotions shift within the confined space and limited time. Lee Da Hee added that contestants are now quicker to express affection, choosing honesty over traditional push-and-pull tactics.

Hanhae teased the introduction of a never-before-seen mission, hinting that it plays a significant role in changing emotional dynamics. Dex concluded by pointing out that the contestants’ strong individuality is the season’s greatest strength, saying viewers will enjoy guessing where each person’s heart truly lies until the very end.

With intensified flirting, boundary-pushing moments, and emotionally charged twists, Single’s Inferno 5 is shaping up to be the most provocative season in the franchise’s history.

Single’s Inferno 5 premieres exclusively on Netflix on January 20.
