A shocking case has emerged from South Gyeongsang Province, where a singer and announcer in his 40s, referred to as A, has been indicted on charges of murder after brutally assaulting and neglecting his teenage daughter, leading to her death.
According to the Changwon District Prosecutors’ Office, Jinju Branch (Chief Prosecutor Lee Hye Hyun), A was formally charged and taken into custody on October 21 for the crime of murder with intent. Prosecutors determined that his repeated acts of abuse amounted to intentional killing.

Investigators revealed that at a residence in Namhae County, A severely beat his 18-year-old daughter and poured boiling water over her head, causing serious scalp lacerations and burns. Rather than seeking medical attention, he allegedly left her inside his car for over two days while she suffered in pain, which ultimately led to her death.
The victim was finally transported unconscious to a local hospital’s emergency room at around 4:30 p.m. on September 22. A claimed to the medical staff, “I found her unconscious in the car after finishing work,” but doctors quickly noticed multiple bruises and burn marks all over the girl’s body, immediately suspecting foul play.
Medical personnel reported that the victim had already died before arrival, prompting them to notify the police. The police determined that the cause of death was likely due to severe external trauma and neglect, leading to A’s emergency arrest.
A hospital staff member recounted, “He brought his daughter in around closing time, but she was already deceased. Her body was limp, and there was no pulse or breathing.”
During the initial investigation, A denied the allegations, stating, “I didn’t know she was that sick.” However, further evidence—including traces of sustained physical assault and prolonged neglect—surfaced during questioning. Witnesses said that even after the girl was pronounced dead, A displayed erratic behavior, shouting, “My daughter is still alive!” while pacing between the emergency room and the morgue.
A was known as a singer and announcer based in Jinju, operating a YouTube channel where he shared music and broadcasting clips. On the day of the incident, he was reportedly scheduled to host a fire safety event organized by the Namhae Fire Station.
Prosecutors stated that A’s actions demonstrated clear intent to kill, citing the brutality of the assault and his failure to provide aid. A spokesperson from the prosecutor’s office commented, “We will ensure that the defendant faces punishment proportionate to the gravity of his crime.”
The disturbing case has sparked national outrage, reigniting calls for harsher penalties for domestic abuse and child murder, particularly when the perpetrator is a parent.
