Sigourney Weaver (73) appearsas Sam Washington’s teenage daughter in “Avatar” sequel after death rumors
The 73-year-old Sigourney Weaver is turning ageless with her surprising appearance in the sequel of “Avatar”.
On November 3rd (local time), American media site Screenrant reported that after Sigourney Weaver’s character, Dr. Grace, lost her life in the first movie of “Avatar”, the actress is re-appearing as Kiri, a teenage character.
In particular, the new trailer shows Jake Sully (Sam Washington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), who have become Na’vi, appear as parents of four children. Then, their teenage daughter Kiri can be seen saying, “I feel her. I can feel her heart beating. She’s very close”.
“There is a chance that Kiri is referring to Pandora’s heartbeat itself, given the strong connection the Na’vi have with their planet,” Screenrant said.
They also added, “However, the decision to have Sigourney Weaver play Kiri seemingly links her to Dr. Grace in some fashion. This could mean that Kiri hears Dr. Grace’s heartbeat after she dies at the Tree of Souls and unites with the planet’s deity, Eywa.”
In addition, it is pointed out that only Sigourney Weaver’s new character can hear “her heartbeat” in the “Avatar” sequel, which may alludes to her unique connection with Pandora and Dr. Grace.
Therefore, the media concluded that “It is possible that part of Avatar 2’s story is about Kiri searching for Dr. Grace’s memories and attempting to bring her back to life.”

Earlier, on October 28th, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the running time of “Avatar: The Way of Water”, is 3 hours and 10 minutes.
This is longer than “Avengers: Endgame” (3 hours 2 minutes) and shorter than “Titanic”. (3 hours 14 minutes). It is also longer than “Avatar”, which was released in December 2009 and ran for 2 hours and 41 minutes.
The media said, “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, movies are getting longer”, and added that many Hollywood films are now more than two and a half hours long.
