Shocking verdict on ex-BIGBANG’s Seungri revealed, “43 million won for sexual favors at airports and restaurants”
The court ruling on former BIGBANG member Seungri has been revealed, and it is shocking.
According to the verdict released by JTBC on February 10th, Seungri arranged prostitution for foreign investors on a total of 24 occasions from September 2015 to January 2016, and twice from September 2015 to December of the same year.
Seungri’s sexual favors were at any time and place. It started at the end of December 2015 when he provided sexual favors to a brother of a Japanese investor. When his “client” entered the country through Incheon International Airport, Seungri arranged group prostitution from a luxury car to a hotel in Seoul. After that, he provided sexual favors to investors in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea for a total of 29 times for two months from early December 2015, costing about 43 million won. The venues were also diverse, including hotels, houses, and restaurants.
Seungri insisted that Yoo In Seok, former CEO of Yuri Holdings, who was actress Park Han Byul’s husband and partner, arbitrarily carried out the sexual services and that he was not involved. However, the court still found Seungri guilty.
Seungri was also accused of taking a picture of three Chinese women lying on their stomachs naked on a bed after a BIGBANG fan meeting tour held in China in June 2016, and sending the photo to five men, including Jung Joon Young, in December of the same year.
Seungri said he only posted the picture he received from Madame Singapore and did not take it himself, but the court said, “Given the testimony of those around him and the context of the conversation at the time, Seungri’s claim is unacceptable.”
The court took into account the fact that Seungri had no history of criminal punishment beyond a fine, but ruled that severe punishment was needed, considering that he had a false sense of sexuality and repeatedly engaged in sexual services for a small profit.
The court found Seungri guilty of violating of the Act on Punishment of Acts such as Procurement of Prostitution, the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Crimes of Sexual Violence (filming using cameras, etc.), violating laws on habitual gambling, foreign exchange transactions, aggravated punishment for certain economic crimes, business-related embezzlement. He pleaded guilty to all nine charges and was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. Seungri was released from prison on February 9th after completing his sentence. Seungri’s side said, “He is taking time to reflect.”
Jung Joon Young, who shared illegally taken photos with Seungri, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for sexually assaulting women with Choi Jong Hoon from FT Island. Jung Joon Young is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2025. Choi Jong Hoon was released from prison on November 8, 2021.
