According to a report on March 27, Shin Se Kyung has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming drama Love Virus. The series, which falls under the romantic comedy genre, has yet to confirm its broadcast schedule or network. Her last rom-com project was the 2021 JTBC drama Run On, co-starring Im Si Wan. Despite its star-studded cast, the drama recorded modest ratings in the mid-2% range, leaving some disappointment. With that experience in mind, many are now watching closely to see whether Shin Se Kyung can redeem herself in the genre through Love Virus.
Shin Se Kyung began her entertainment career in 1998 as a poster model for Seo Taiji’s album. She rose to fame in 2009 with her breakout role in the MBC sitcom High Kick Through the Roof, where she played a character sharing her own name. Since then, she has built an impressive filmography with notable dramas such as Deep Rooted Tree and Six Flying Dragons.

Known for her pure and elegant visuals, Shin Se Kyung was once criticized for taking on repetitive roles with similar vibes. However, she recently expanded her acting spectrum through the film Humint, released in February, where she convincingly portrayed Chae Seon Hwa, a North Korean restaurant worker in Vladivostok, earning praise for her performance.
The upcoming drama Love Virus will be directed by Kim Seok Yoon, known for his acclaimed works such as Law School, Behind Your Touch, and My Liberation Notes. Expectations are high for the synergy between the accomplished director and Shin Se Kyung. Meanwhile, actor Jung Hae In is also reportedly considering an offer to join the project, further heightening anticipation among fans.
