On the June 22 episode of TV Chosun’s Lovers of Joseon , comedian Yang Sang Guk held an audition to recruit members for a marriage-focused group. Former baseball player Shim Soo Chang, actor Yoo Il Han and comedian Hong Kyung Joon were among the participants.

The panel reacted with surprise when Shim Jae Won appeared, particularly because of his sculpted features and distinctive appearance. Born in 1993, he revealed that he is 32 years old, making him the youngest participant.

Shim Jae Won also spoke candidly about his education and financial situation. He dropped out of university during his third year, meaning his highest completed level of education is high school. Although he currently lives in a rented home, his annual income reportedly exceeds 200 million won.

Despite his appearance and financial stability, Shim Jae Won admitted that his romantic experiences had often ended unsuccessfully. “There have been many times when I liked someone, but it did not work out,” he said. “When I approach people, many of them keep their distance. I sometimes wonder whether it is because I look somewhat foreign.”

Yang Sang Guk jokingly responded that Shim Jae Won appeared to be a good person but should avoid joining the group, suggesting that his strong appearance could create unwanted competition. Shim Jae Won explained that he hopes to meet potential partners naturally through different social gatherings. “I want to meet various people naturally through different groups,” he said. “What I want most is for a good relationship to develop.”

Shim Jae Won is currently active as an actor. His family connection to Shim Hye Jin, combined with his appearance and reported income, quickly made him one of the most discussed participants from the episode.
