Seventeen, True Masters: Praised by BBC for Historic Stage at UK’s Glastonbury

Seventeen became the first K-pop artist to headline the main stage at the UK's Glastonbury Festival

On June 28th (local time), Seventeen took over the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury for about an hour, overwhelming the audience. Starting with Woozi’s keyboard performance, they continued with songs like “MAESTRO,” “Ready to love,” “SOS,” “Clap,” “Rock with you,” and “Headliner,” captivating the crowd.

Their rich band sound and flawless skills stood out, performing 13 songs live without showing signs of fatigue. They further excited the audience with chants like “Glastonbury make some noise,” and interactive stages for “Rock with you” and “HOT.”

Unique unit stages only seen at Seventeen concerts were also featured. The hip-hop team presented “LALALI,” while the performance and vocal teams showcased “I Don’t Understand but I Luv U” and “Chungchoon Changa,” respectively. Joshua and Vernon’s English song “2 MINUS 1” added to the atmosphere, intensifying the crowd’s energy.

Seventeen displayed their versatility from powerful performances to bright energy and emotional stages, showcasing their mastery of entertainment.

Woozi expressed disbelief, stating, “It’s unbelievable that we, as Seventeen, performed at Glastonbury.” Joshua emphasized, “Despite language, nationality, and culture differences, we can connect through music. That’s why we are here,” urging people to remember Seventeen. Mingyu waved a flag reading “SEVENTEEN right here – Making History at Glastonbury.”

During the encore, fans continued to chant the chorus of “Very Nice,” creating an endless atmosphere known as ‘Infinite Anas.’ Seungkwan descended into the audience, passing the mic to fans, and various flags and fans with Seventeen logos were visible throughout.

Local media reactions were also enthusiastic. NME praised, “Seventeen made history,” noting their performance created significant social media buzz. BBC reported, “Seventeen’s performance received louder cheers than previous artists,” while The Independent hailed it as “a masterclass in entertainment with perfectly synchronized choreography and danceable music.”

Glastonbury is renowned as the UK’s largest music festival, attracting musicians from various genres including rock, pop, jazz, and electronic to its revered stages known as the ‘dream stage.’
