On August 19th, Seo Min-jae made a post on brunch, saying “I’m a drug offender”.
Seo Min-jae shared some parts of her interview with a women’s magazine. She said, “It was probably one of the most terrible days of my life. It was about a week after I had used drugs and I experienced extreme side effects, such as insomnia, depression, and panic disorder. I couldn’t handle it, therefore, I foolishly abused psychiatric medications, such as sleeping pills”.
She continued, “I don’t remember anything else after that. The timeline from the police body cam footage after receiving a report of a woman jumping from the second floor, goes as follows: As I jumped, I fractured both of her pelvic bones. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, hospitalized for orthopedics, and then discharged from hospital. I received crutch-walking training and self-walking training at a rehabilitation hospital. If the injury had been worsened, I literally wouldn’t have been able to stand up again.”
In addition, Seo Min-jae revealed that her mother had to resign as a teacher due to the incident. She shared, “Looking back, it was this moment that made me realize that drugs were extremely scary. It is because when I hit what felt like rock bottom in my life, with nothing left after the storm had passed, I had this evil thought, ‘My life is already over. Should I just rely on drugs to escape reality and end my life?’”.
Seo Min-jae also revealed the reason why she changed her name to Seo Eun-woo. She said, “I felt bad about the unpleasant tags that kept being attached to me when I was called by my old name. I didn’t want to remember those painful memories”, adding, “I think I should live honestly this time”.
Meanwhile, Seo Min-jae confessed that she took drugs with former WINNER member Nam Tae-hyun in August 2022. The two were sentenced to suspended jail and probation for taking methamphetamine together at Seo Min-jae’s residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Recently, Seo Min-jae caused a stir when she accused Nam Tae-hyun of dating violence and sexual revenge. However, Nam Tae-hyun denied the allegations and confirmed that the two already broke up.
