Jo Jung-suk and Shin Se-kyung will meet in a historical drama

tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Sejak, the Fascinated” (directed by Jo Nam-guk, written by Kim Seon-deok) depicts the cruel love story of King Yi In of Joseon (played by Jo Jung-suk), who is in danger of both royal and political power struggles, and Kang Hee-soo (played by Shin Se-kyung), who tries to deceive him for revenge but ends up falling in love with him. It is a collaboration between director Jo Nam-guk of “The Good Detective” and writer Kim Seon-deok of “The Crowned Clown”. At the script reading session, director Jo Nam-guk, writer Kim Seon-deok, Jo Jung-suk (as Yi In), Shin Se-kyung (as Kang Hee-soo, Kang Mong-woo), Lee Shin-young (as Kim Myung-ha), Park Ye-young (as Court Lady Dong), Son Hyun-joo (as Kang Hang-sun), Choi Dae-hoon (as Lee Seon), Jo Sung-ha (as Kim Jong-bae), Lee Gyu-hoe (as Park Jong-hwan), Yang Kyung-won (as Yoo Hyun-bo), Jang Young-nam (as Queen Dowager Park), Ahn Si-ha (as Queen Kim), Kang Hong-seok (as Joo Sang-hwa), Na Hyun-woo (as Chu Dal-ha), Han Dong-hee (as Hong Jang) and Song Sang-eun (as Ja Geun-nyeon) participated.

According to the production team, as they delved into the actual script reading, all the actors immersed themselves in their characters. Jo Jung-suk, who takes on the role of Yi In, a miserable king who has no one around him that he can trust, portrayed the changing emotional trajectory of Yi In. Shin Se-kyung, challenging a cross-dressing character, captured the completely different atmospheres of Kang Hee-soo and Kang Mong-woo through dialogue delivery alone.

Jo Jung-suk said, “My expectations grew more during the script reading process. I thought, ‘If I do well, everything will be okay.’” Shin Se-kyung shared, “Reading the script with the actors made the story come alive, and I felt the anticipation growing. Please look forward to and support ‘Sejak, the Fascinated’.

“Sejak, the Fascinated” is scheduled to be broadcast in January 2024.
