Back in October 2023, it was reported that Nam Hyun-hee, a former fencer who represented Korea in the Olympics, was planning to marry a scammer called Jeon Cheong-jo.
At the time, it was revealed that Jeon Cheong-jo claimed to be an illegitimate child of the Paradise Corp chairman. The scammer also pretended to be a professional horse rider who attended a prestigious university.
In the end, Jeon Cheong-jo was able to make Nam Hyun-hee fall for them, and scammed huge amounts of money from various other people.
According to Korean media, Jeon Cheong-jo knew Nam Hyun-hee to be a fan of IU, and so claimed that he once dated IU. He also promised to bring the national athlete to the VIP section of IU’s concert.
Most shocking of all, Dispatch revealed that Jeon Cheong-jo is actually a woman, who often changes their identities to scam.
At the moment, Nam Hyun-hee has severed all ties with Jeon Cheong-jo, and the latter is facing charges of fraud and embezzlement.
