Running Man to Temporarily Continue Without Replacement for Jeon So-min and Focus on Guest Appearances

As Jeon So-min leaves “Running Man” after about 6 years, the show will continue with the current cast without introducing new members

According to a report from Ilgan Sports on October 25th, the “Running Man” production team has no plans to find a replacement celebrity for Jeon So-min this year.

Instead, they will invite various guests according to the race concept to fill Jeon So-min’s vacancy. An SBS representative stated, “As Jeon So-min has been actively involved as a core member of ‘Running Man,’ we will carefully consider finding a replacement celebrity.”

Earlier, on October 23rd, it was reported that Jeon So-min would be leaving “Running Man” after the recording on October 30th. Jeon So-min made this decision after extensive discussions with the “Running Man” production team over an extended period.

The “Running Man” team plans to consider various factors such as chemistry with other members and entertainment skills while contemplating a fixed replacement member for Jeon So-min.

Since February 2019 when Lee Kwang-soo left the show, the “Running Man” team has not recruited any new fixed members. However, the departure of two members has made the decision more challenging. Jeon So-min’s outstanding performance has also added to the pressure of filling her void.

Jeon So-min joined “Running Man” in April 2017 and has since received love from viewers for her unique and unreserved sense of humor.

“Running Man” has been an SBS flagship program since July 2010. It faced a crisis in viewership ratings but experienced a resurgence, receiving a warm response overseas and even holding fan meetings abroad, an unusual achievement for a variety show.

While concerns arose when PD Choi Bo-pil, who played a significant role in the show’s revival, left in August 2022, the current PD Cho Hyun-in has gradually stabilized the program. However, Jeon So-min’s departure marks another significant change for “Running Man.”

The question remains whether “Running Man” can turn Jeon So-min’s departure into another opportunity for growth.
