“Running Man” cast reveals experiences of filming when feeling unwell, fans express concerns

“Running Man” members told behind-the-scenes stories of when they recorded the show with their sick bodies.

The August 13th broadcast of SBS’s entertainment program “Running Man” continued to depict the summer vacation special episode at a fishing village.

The members were seen gathering in Gangwon-do. The production staff then explained to the members that they would spend one night at the house of a grandfather in the fishing village and two people will be chosen for the extreme penalty of waking up early in the morning to catch octopus and cook octopus ramen for breakfast. Hearing that, Yoo Jae Suk and Kim Jong Kook recalled when they actually did that on “Family Outing”.

After arriving at the grandfather’s house and making bibimbap, the members had a little break. While sharing updates on each other’s whereabouts, Yoo Jae Suk told the memorable story of when he met Song Ji Hyo on “Family Outing”. He said, “I told her to take a nap while waiting for the set to be prepared. I said it as a polite suggestion but as we were about to start recording, I found her actually sleeping in the next room”, adding “That’s why I recommended Song Ji Hyo for ‘Running Man’”.

The members also agreed and mentioned when Song Ji Hyo slept on the large Jenga during a mission. In this regard, Song Ji Hyo explained, “I actually had enteritis at that time. I didn’t sleep because I ran out of energy, but was really sick during that filming”.

Yoo Jae Suk also confessed, “I’ve never been sick during recordings but I would come to the shoot even when I’m sick”. Ji Seok Jin shared, “On the day when Jae Suk danced enthusiastically, nobody knew that he was feeling unwell. We only found out that he had a fever after the shoot ended.”

Kim Jong Kook also mentioned his own experience. The members said, “The day Jong Kook’s herniated disc hurt while playing a game, he really tore off all the name tags”. Ji Seok Jin added, “I had a herniated disc, too. I filmed for two days in extreme pain, but seeing Jong Kook running towards me, I also ran”.

After the broadcast, netizens poured compliments on the members’ professional attitudes and expressed concerns about the health of the members, who continued filming the show even when they were sick.
