According to recent reports from Taiwanese media, Chiung Yao passed away at her home at the age of 86.

Following the news, reporters reached out to Ruby Lin for her reaction. Overwhelmed with emotion, Ruby Lin was at a loss for words. She expressed her deep sorrow, stating that Chiung Yao was the first benefactor in her life.

Ruby Lin rose to fame after portraying Xia Ziwei in Chiung Yao’s “My Fair Princess”. The drama served as a stepping stone, catapulting Ruby from an unknown actress to a prominent young star. Her pure and delicate appearance captured the hearts of viewers, with many declaring Ruby’s portrayal of Xia Ziwei as the most iconic.

Throughout the years, Ruby Lin has consistently expressed her gratitude toward Chiung Yao. She sent birthday wishes to the author each year and gladly participated in Chiung Yao’s other productions, such as “My Fair Princess II” and “Flowers in Fog”.

Chiung Yao, born on April 20, 1938, was a celebrated contemporary Taiwanese novelist and screenwriter. Many of her works, including “Outside the Window”, “Between The Water and Cloud”, “My Fair Princess” and “Mist Over Dream Lake”, have been adapted into films and television series.

During her lifetime, Chiung Yao had prepared for her own passing. She once expressed, “In life, may I be a flame, burning brightly until the very end. In death, may I be a snowflake, falling gently and returning to dust.

In a letter to her two children written at the age of 79, Chiung Yao shared her wishes for her passing. She stated she did not want a traditional funeral. Instead, she requested no public announcements, no memorial service, no burning of joss paper, and only a quiet, private farewell.
