Rowoon & N Put Their Teams Behind To Focus On Acting, Will Cha Eun-woo Show Different Moves?

Apart from their main job as singers, idol group members also carry out individual activities in dramas, movies, entertainment programs, or musical stages. During the first contract period, idols often balance group and individual schedules. After a few years, when the group has achieved a solid fandom and position, the members begin to focus on developing themselves individually. This is the case of idol groups with acting members, SF9, VIXX and ASTRO.
However, doing singing and acting activities at the same time is not easy. Due to the complicated schedules of the drama and movie filming schedules, the team often makes sacrifices for the members who act. This is also the reason Rowoon could not participate in most of the promotional activities of SF9’s recent albums due to the filming of dramas
Rowoon renewed his contract with FNC Entertainment in September but decided to withdraw from SF9. Although SF9 fans had already predicted this to happen, they still expressed disappointment and criticized Rowoon. As a result, Rowoon released a long handwritten letter to apologize to fans. In the end, he made this difficult decision so that his acting career would not cause inconvenience to the team.
The case of VIXX’s N (Cha Hak-yeon) is different. N left VIXX’s agency and moved to a new company but he did not leave VIXX. Maybe it is because of his affection for the team and his sense of responsibility as a leader. In short, N is still a member of VIXX despite being under a different agency.
The problem is that he, the leader, is going to be absent from the upcoming album for VIXX’s first comeback after four years. In this regard, N’s current agency said, “The production and promotion of VIXX’s album overlap with Cha Hak-yeon’s drama filming schedule in the second half of this year”, adding “After discussing with VIXX members, he decided to not participate in this album’s recording and promotion”.
N also released an apology to fans through VIXX’s fancafe and emphasized that he’s still a member of VIXX, saying “I will never forget that my root is VIXX and will try my best to repay your love with better performances.” However, fans doubted whether N was willing to do VIXX activities. He is currently starring in the drama “Castaway Diva” but the shooting is known to have been completed last month.
ASTRO renewed their contract with Fantagio as a whole group at the end of last year with the hope of maintaining the group for a longer time. ‘Acting member’ Cha Eun-woo is gaining huge attention with his acting activities but he still renewed the contract with the members.
ASTRO’s group activities are currently halted as member MJ is fulfilling military service. However, their group promotion is expected to resume soon as MJ will be discharged from the military on November 8th. Attention is focused on how Cha Eun-woo will balance his group and individual schedules.
