KBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “The Matchmakers” unveiled the “main poster” of the romance version
KBS 2TV’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “The Matchmakers” (written by Ha Soo-jin, directed by Hwang Seung-gi, Kim Soo-jin), which will premiere on Oct 30th, tells the story about a young widower named Shim Jung-woo (Rowoon), and a young widow named Jung Soon-deok (Cho Yi-hyun), joining forces to marry off four young maidens who represent Joseon.
“The Matchmakers” has garnered attention as it brings together writer Ha Soo-jin of “Sell Your Haunted House” and director Hwang Seung-gi of “Memorials”, “Justice”, “Review Notebook of My Embarrassing Days”. In addition, actors Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun, who have captivated viewers with powerful acting in each of their works, are receiving attention for their roles as Shim Jung-woo, a Confucian scholar who become the youngest person to pass the state civil service examination, and Jung Soon-deok, the best matchmaker and bangmul seller in Hanyang.
In this regard, on Oct 17th (today), the main poster of the romance version was released. In the main poster of the romance version, Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun respectively transform into Shim Jung-woo and Jung Soon-deok, boasting a 180-degree difference from the “comic version”.
Above all, Shim Jung-woo (Rowoon) and Jung Soon-deok (Cho Yi-hyun) draw a picture-like two-shot against the backdrop of colorful lanterns. Shim Jung-woo reaches out to light a lantern and naturally places his hand on Jung Soon-deok’s shoulder, revealing the height difference between them. Jung Soon-deok, who looks like she is being held in Shim Jung-woo’s arms, forms a cozy atmosphere with her warm gaze and gentle smile.
The caption that reads “I didn’t fall for you” raises expectations for “The Matchmakers”. It remains to be seen how Shim Jung-woo and Jung Soon-deok will bring their desperate “predestined tie” search to the home theater, and viewers are looking forward to it with great interest.
