A rookie male idol is under fire after being accused of verbally abusing a female floor director at MBC, with the allegations first shared by the staff member’s mother in an online parenting community.

The original post, which resurfaced and went viral weeks after it was first uploaded, claimed that the poster’s daughter had been working as a contract floor director at MBC for the past two years. According to the mother, she received a distressing phone call from her daughter about a week before writing the post. The young woman was reportedly in tears and said she no longer wanted to live. Alarmed, her parents rushed to see her, where she allegedly revealed that a celebrity had deeply hurt her on set.

Although the mother did not initially disclose the idol’s name, citing concerns about retaliation because he belonged to a major company, she described the incident in detail. She claimed that while her daughter was giving directions to members of a boy group during filming, one member responded with an expletive-filled insult, allegedly calling her a derogatory name related to her appearance. The idol reportedly believed she could not hear him but she did. The mother further alleged that throughout filming, the idol continued glaring at her daughter and later scolded her harshly over a prop malfunction.

The post mentioned that the accused idol was part of a group formed through a survival audition program aired on tvN or Mnet, and identified him only as a 24-year-old surnamed “Kim.”

As the story spread across online platforms, a woman claiming to be the victim later stepped forward and identified the idol as Kim Geonwoo of ALPHA DRIVE ONE. She reportedly shared photos of her desk and a weekly filming schedule as proof that she currently works at MBC. Describing Kim’s personality as deeply problematic, she did not elaborate further on additional incidents.

The accusations have triggered significant backlash online, with many netizens calling for a response from the idol and his agency, as well as appropriate consequences if the claims are substantiated. Some commenters pointed to past online discussions about his behavior during his audition program, questioning how he was able to debut despite earlier concerns. Others criticized the broader audition system, suggesting that certain participants develop so-called “celebrity disease” shortly after debut.

This is reportedly not the first time Kim Geonwoo has faced controversy, further fueling public scrutiny as the situation continues to unfold.
