RM, the leader of global supergroup BTS, has candidly spoken about the emotional and mental toll of preparing for the group’s long-anticipated comeback in spring 2026. During a Weverse Live broadcast with fans on December 6, RM (real name Kim Nam-joon) addressed concerns, rumors, and personal struggles as BTS nears its full reunion after completing mandatory military service.

RM began by responding to questions about the group’s apparent inactivity. “Many ask why we wasted the second half of 2025 or why we did nothing,” he said. “It’s not that we wanted to. I really wanted to be active after my discharge. But there were circumstances I can’t talk about publicly—not even I have the right to share them. I truly wanted to perform again.

He expressed frustration over the delay, noting that their last concert was in October 2022. “It’s been more than three years. I want to perform right away, but it requires a huge amount of preparation. The burden is enormous—emotionally and practically. All I’m doing is preparing, and that’s frustrating too.

The emotional weight has taken a physical toll as well. RM revealed, “Since last month, I’ve been unable to sleep. I even considered getting a prescription for sleeping pills.” He apologized to fans for the long wait, adding, “We have our reasons, and unless we can deliver something that satisfies everyone, we can’t return easily.

Acknowledging the scale of BTS’s comeback and the pressure of expectations, he asked for understanding: “It might sound like an excuse, but please be patient. We will come back. Maybe not always in the way you expect—but we’ll do our best.

RM also shared that he’s thought about the possibility of disbandment or halting activities. “I’ve thought about whether disbanding or stopping would be better thousands of times,” he admitted. “But what keeps us going is the love between the members and the respect and love we have for our fans.

Ending on an emotional note, RM emphasized, “Please remember that I love you. Even if it doesn’t always show, I will love you in my own way.

BTS is currently planning a full-group comeback in March 2026, following the completion of all members’ military duties—with Suga being the last to wrap up his service in June. A massive world tour is reportedly in the works, marking the group’s return to global stages after years apart.
