On February 6, the Macau concert organizer released a statement through its official channels confirming that Shotaro would be absent from RIIZE’s first world tour, RIIZING LOUD, scheduled to take place in Macau.
The organizers stated, “All parties worked thoroughly in advance to ensure every member could participate. However, due to unavoidable and unexpected circumstances, member Shotaro will unfortunately not be able to attend the concert.” They continued by asking for fans’ understanding, adding, “We sincerely ask for the generous understanding of fans who have waited and supported RIIZE for a long time. We deeply apologize once again for any inconvenience caused by the lineup change.”

RIIZE is set to hold its RIIZING LOUD concerts in Macau on February 7 and 8. Shotaro’s absence has sparked speculation among fans and media outlets, with some suggesting it may be connected to the recently escalating tensions between China and Japan. In recent months, several K-pop events in Chinese-speaking regions have reportedly been canceled or modified due to the inclusion of Japanese members in performing groups. The situation has been linked to what some refer to as the “anti-Japan cultural restriction” trend, involving limitations on Japanese cultural influence.
As of now, neither SM Entertainment nor Shotaro has released additional details regarding the specific reason behind his absence.
