Red Velvet Faces Mishaps During World Tour: Health Issues and Canceled Shows Leave Fans Disheartened
Fans feel sorry for Red Velvet as they go through multiple unfortunate events during their ongoing world tour.
In April 2023, Red Velvet kicked off their world tour “R to V”. As of now, the group has completed the final shows of “R to V” in Europe and is set to carry on with a new leg of the tour.
Looking back, many fans are saddened by the unfortunate incidents that Red Velvet has encountered. Within a short period, the members have faced continuous health issues, show cancellations, and other unlucky circumstances.
Back-to-back health issues
On April 29th, while Red Velvet was touring in Singapore, SM announced that Joy had to temporarily suspend her activities due to health reasons. As a result, Joy sat out of the concerts. Red Velvet rehearsed from scratch and continued their first tour in almost 4 years with Joy’s absence.
Shortly after the announcement of Joy’s health status, in mid-May, Wendy tested positive for Covid-19. Consequently, Red Velvet had to cancel their concert in Thailand.
Next, during the “R to V” concert in Berlin in early June, Yeri had to perform with a bandaged arm. Prior to that, Yeri injured her arm and had to go to the nearest hospital.
During the flight to Berlin for the concert, Irene also faced health issues and even required oxygen. Despite their poor health conditions, the four members tried their best to maintain professionalism and successfully completed the shows.
Canceled shows
In light of Wendy catching Covid in May, SM indefinitely postponed two “R to V” shows in Thailand. Recently, the company announced the cancellation of the shows, disappointing Thai fans.
Red Velvet’s final stage at Primavera Sound music festival in Madrid was unexpectedly canceled due to bad weather. Previously, Red Velvet had landed at the airport in preparation for their performance.
Sasaeng fans
What happened to Red Velvet outside of the concerts during their touring period also caused them troubles. Red Velvet encountered sasaeng fans who followed them around, stayed in the same hotels, asked for the members’ room numbers, sneaked into elevators alone with Irene, and took secret photos of Seulgi.
Missed Beyoncé’s concert
Before starting the European leg of the tour, Red Velvet members bought tickets for Beyoncé’s concert. Seulgi shared that she eventually couldn’t attend the concert due to ticket issues. She bought three tickets for herself, Irene, and the manager, but only two tickets allowed entry.
Seulgi and Irene initially went in but then came back out to help the manager with the ticket problem. However, according to the rules, once checked in, re-entry was not permitted, so Seulgi and Irene missed the opportunity. In the end, only Wendy got to enjoy Beyoncé’s concert.
