Reason why TWICE’s Chaeyoung apologize to ITZY’s Ryujin

TWICE’s Chaeyoung apologized for being an “oldie” in front of her junior ITZY’s Ryujin when they are only 2 years apart in age.

Chaeyoung appeared in the 10th episode of the web entertainment show “차린건없지만” (I Haven’t Prepared Anything) released on December 31st,  2021.

Chae-young, who entered the eighth year since her debut, revealed a behind-the-scenes story with her junior Ryujin on the broadcast. Chaeyoung said she was the first one to approach Ryujin and prepared a meal for her since Ryujin seemed to be having a hard time.

Chaeyoung continued, “I think having a senior is important to idols. But not long after our debut, the Wonder Girls disbanded. We didn’t have any seniors to ask for advice if we were having a hard time because Miss A wasn’t there as well,” she said.

Then, “I have a junior named ITZY. I thought it would be difficult for them to approach first, so I approached them first,” she explained.

However, Chaeyoung confessed that the conversation she had at the meal was bothering her. She said, “It wouldn’t have been comfortable (for ITZY),” adding, “We talked about things such as ‘what’s hard about being an idol?’ while eating, but it was too old-fashioned.”

She said, “It was really hard when “Latte” because I didn’t have a senior.”  (“Latte” is a satire of the expression “when I was young,” which is frequently used by older generations in Korea). “On the contrary, I think it would be suffocating for Ryujin to think that a senior would say that to her,” the idol continued.

Chae-young also sent an apology message to Ryu-jin on the broadcast. She said, “I’m sorry for making it awkward for you.”

Meanwhile, TWICE held TWICE 4TH WORLD TOUR ‘III’ at KSPO DOME (Olympic Gymnastics Stadium) in Songpa-gu, Seoul, for two days from the 25th to the 26th of last month, making a spectacular opening of their new world tour.

They will continue to hold concerts in five U.S. cities, including Los Angeles on January 16th, Oakland on January 18th, Dallas on January 22nd, Atlanta on January 24th, and New York on January 26th.
