Ran Takahashi, 24-year-old captain of the Japanese men’s national volleyball team and ace player for SV.League champions Suntory Sunbirds, has become the focus of intense media and fan scrutiny following a bombshell tabloid report this week.
According to Shukan Bunshun, Takahashi was allegedly involved in a “double-dating scandal,” simultaneously seeing two women — Uka, a 26-year-old glamorous influencer, and Ayaka Kawakita (Kawakita Saika), a 26-year-old popular adult film actress.
Although Takahashi has since denied any romantic involvement, the tabloid’s explosive claims have taken social media by storm. Dubbed the “Prince of Volleyball,” Takahashi’s clean-cut image has come under fire as fans and critics dissect the allegations.
On October 24, News Post Seven released a follow-up article suggesting the scandal may have stemmed from a leak by someone in Takahashi’s inner circle. The report claims that very few people were aware of the intimate relationship between Takahashi and Uka, implying that the source must have been someone close to the athlete.
A source within Takahashi’s agency speculated, “It’s possible the information leaked from someone very near to him.” While the authenticity of the tabloid’s claims remains uncertain, insiders expressed shock that private photos and details were made public, regardless of their truth.
The News Post Seven article also hinted that a specific individual is being suspected as the source of the leak, though no names have been officially confirmed.
The scandal comes as a shock to Takahashi’s fanbase, especially given his image as a role model for young athletes in Japan. Online reactions have been mixed — some express disappointment, while others rally behind him, calling for privacy and caution against jumping to conclusions.
