“Queen of Tears” Park Sung-hoon stimulates viewers’ over-immersion “Why is Jae-joon doing bad things here too?”

tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama "Queen of Tears" is gaining popularity as a syndrome with its powerful script by writer Park Ji-eun and the immersive performances of the actors

Actor Park Sung-hoon, who is receiving rave reviews for his outstanding chemistry with Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won as well as his mysterious charm portraying M&A expert Yoon Eun-sung, is intensifying the tension of the drama. Eun-sung’s past as a child from an orphanage was revealed, and his two-faced side displayed since childhood is sending shivers down the viewers’ spines.

Encountering a married couple at Queens Group’s villa, Eun-sung made a bizarre proposal to buy their dog for 100 million won. The couple refused, stating that they could not sell a family-like dog. Eun-sung shocked them by saying, “Then I’ll just abandon it since it’s a hassle.” He then aimed a gun at the dog, leaving the couple horrified.

However, Eun-sung’s villainous demeanor is not the only thing that stands out. His gentle and sweet demeanor in front of Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won) while becoming a “necessary person” to her is endearing. Although his actions are cunning, they clearly demonstrate why Hae-in has no choice but to trust him.

However, Eun-sung’s most important role is to serve as a significant stimulus for Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) to realize his feelings for Hong Hae-in. Eun-sung’s affectionate and sometimes “crossing the line” attitude towards Hae-in stimulates Hyun-woo’s jealousy, adding more fun to the viewing experience.

Eun-sung’s fluctuation between good and evil is brilliantly portrayed by Park Sung-hoon’s acting prowess. While his character in Netflix’s “The Glory”, Jeon Jae-joon, was completely different from Eun-sung, viewers are enjoying the crossover between “The Glory” and “Queen of Tears“, expressing reactions like “Why is Jae-joon doing bad things here too?“, “Is Jae-joon scarier, or is Eun-sung scarier?“… This demonstrates Park Sung-hoon’s ability to lead viewers into over-immersion.

Meanwhile, “Queen of Tears” recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 13% in just four episodes. It airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:10 PM on tvN.
