“Queen Of Tears” Accumulates 1 Billion Video Views, Setting New Record in tvN History

Even Korean media and insiders of the drama industry could not expect “Queen of Tears” to become this successful

Although “Queen of Tears” is still behind “Crash Landing on You” with a rating gap of 1%, it has achieved various unprecedented records on tvN. In particular, the drama attracted 188 million views within the past week (from the 8th to the 15th of April) with videos on all of tvN’s SNS channels and surpassed 1 billion accumulated views, the highest number of video views in tvN history.

According to Sports Chosun, “Queen of Tears” also earned many other overwhelming achievements. Reaching the rating of 20,73% nationwide with a faster speed compared to “Crash Landing on You”, the drama is expected to take over the No.1 spot very soon. In the Seoul area, the rating of “Queen of Tears” (23.2%, peak 25.2%) already surpassed “Crash Landing on You”.

Especially, according to the result of Good Data Corporation survey in the second week of April, “Queen of Tears” accounted for 64% of hot topics for ongoing TV & OTT dramas. “Queen of Tears” actors also dominated half the TOP 10 on the drama cast popularity chart, and the main actors Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won have taken No.1 and No.2, respectively, for six consecutive weeks.

Korean media has been pouring favorable reviews for “Queen of Tears”, a drama that is so “tvN’s style”, which combines thrilling and mysterious stories, romance and comedy in a pleasant way to make viewers feel comfortable while watching it. Since the drama premiere, tvN has also been promoting it on all SNS channels with diverse content, from talk shows to interviews, to captivate viewers even more. 

A tvN official shared, “We really appreciate the viewers of tvN dramas. We will continue to bring about more dramas with the tvN’s style. Even with star actors or rookies, we will do our best to maintain our reputation as a trustworthy channel”
