PUMA Accused of Stealing BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s Style for Promotion?

Fans suspected that the style of BLACKPINK’s Jennie, who is an ambassador for Adidas, was being “stolen” by PUMA.

Recently, social media was abuzz with a photo purportedly promoting the PUMA Speedcat shoes, for which Rosé is an ambassador. Interestingly, the model in the photo was wearing an outfit reminiscent of a look that Jennie, another BLACKPINK member, had made popular some time ago. This immediately sparked a debate among the fans of these two prominent idols, as Jennie is currently the representative for PUMA’s rival brand, Adidas.

Apart from the PUMA Speedcat shoes on the model’s feet, the hairstyle, sunglasses, and clothes closely resembled an outfit that Adidas ambassador Jennie had previously worn, to the extent of a 90% similarity.

At first glance, many people mistakenly believed that this unusual campaign was PUMA’s doing. However, the truth is quite different. The controversial photo actually originated from a Thai sports fashion retailer named CARNIVAL. This brand had produced the promotional images for PUMA’s hot shoe line, inadvertently causing misunderstanding for Puma.

In other words, this was CARNIVAL’s idea, and PUMA was not involved.

CARNIVAL created these photos to promote the wildly popular PUMA Speedcat shoes and to advertise their own red-logoed CARNIVAL hat.

CARNIVAL’s published a post on Instagram with a caption clarifying that they were responsible for the PUMA Speedcat promotional photos. PUMA’s official Instagram account does not follow this retailer.

Recently, with Rosé becoming PUMA’s global ambassador, she has been actively promoting and enhancing the brand’s influence through two shoe models, Palermo and Speedcat.
