According to reports on May 30, PSY personally addressed concerns regarding the Gwangju stop of his annual Summer Swag 2026 tour.
The controversy arose after his team announced that the concert would be held at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium. However, it was later revealed that official approval for the venue rental had not yet been granted.
PSY explained that his team had received information from the local event organizer indicating that the stadium’s management had approved the rental request. Based on that understanding, the concert venue was publicly announced.

After conducting further verification, however, the singer discovered that the approval process had not been completed.
“I apologize for the confusion caused by this situation,” PSY said, adding that he would work quickly to secure an alternative venue and provide updated information to fans.
The issue gained attention shortly after PSY unveiled the schedule for his Summer Swag 2026 tour on May 29.
The tour is set to begin in Uijeongbu on June 27 before traveling to multiple cities, including Daegu, Incheon, Wonju, Suwon, Gwangju, Busan, and Daejeon.

Soon after the schedule announcement, supporters of Gwangju FC voiced objections to the proposed use of Gwangju World Cup Stadium.
Fans expressed concerns that the large-scale concert could damage the playing surface, potentially affecting match quality and increasing injury risks for football players.
Amid growing opposition, stadium authorities ultimately decided not to permit the concert to take place at the venue.
In response, PSY stated that he respects the concerns raised by local football fans and emphasized that efforts are underway to find a suitable replacement venue so that he can still meet fans in Gwangju as planned.

The artist also expressed disappointment over the situation, replying “I’m very sad” when a fan left a supportive comment online.
Born in 1977, PSY remains one of South Korea’s most influential entertainers.
He achieved global fame with the release of the viral hit Gangnam Style in 2012. The song became a worldwide phenomenon and made history on YouTube after surpassing Baby as the platform’s most-viewed video at the time.
Today, PSY continues to attract massive audiences through his annual Summer Swag concert series, known for its high-energy performances, elaborate production, and signature water-soaked festival atmosphere.
